All of the technology that had been invested in is helping to improve how we farm, but we must also look at the yield of the crops within a field to assess areas where improvements can be made. This is done by the yield mapping function on the combine. The farm combine is a Case IH 9010 with a 30 foot cutting bar. The combine measures the yield as the crop flows through it and with the aid of GPS it creates a map that can later be transferred to the farm computer for analysis.
The combine also has auto steer which allows the operator to fine tune the combine settings and keep an eye on the wide cutter bar without having to worry about steering. This also saves diesel by making sure the combine is working at full capacity.
